HUMAN CAPITAL CONTRIBUTION MODEL FOR PROFIT IMPACT AND RELATED BUSINESS ANALYSIS AVAILABLE THROUGH METRICS THAT MATTER™ LEARNING ANALYTICS TECHNOLOGY
KnowledgeAdvisors authors thought leading model on connecting human capital investments to financial statements.
CHICAGO, IL. [December 1, 2005], KnowledgeAdvisors, Inc. has published a new Human Capital Contribution Model™ to enhance its proprietary learning analytics technology tool, Metrics that Matter™. The model enables learning organizations to systematically assess needs, effectiveness, business results, ROI and profit impact. The model is comprised of five components (1) Business Needs Analysis, (2) Performance Analysis, (3) Business Results Analysis, (4) ROI Analysis, and (5) Profit Impact Analysis. Each component maps out the importance, process, tools and results to ensure its success.
KnowledgeAdvisors suggested metrics come standard with the tool and include: Productivity, Revenue Growth, Profitability (based on Human Capital Contribution Margin), Learning Activity, and Learning Investment.
Linking learning to human capital is something that organizations struggle with in terms of managing and measuring. This model with technology tools to support it streamlines and automates the process. KnowledgeAdvisors’ proprietary formula on human capital contribution margin is a real financial statement variable designed specifically for an L&D manager to visually see on a dashboard the contribution of human capital that counts toward earnings.
In addition, learning analysts can input or import, track, trend and analyze any other key performance indicators important to them.
KnowledgeAdvisors can provide a framework and process to support this and examples might include: Financial Metrics (ex. L&D Cost as a % of Payroll, Cost per Student Day), Operational Metrics (ex. Speed to Market, e-Learning Utilization, Students Trained), Performance Metrics (Learner Satisfaction, Test Pass/Fail Rates, Error Rates, Employee Turnover, ROI), and Cultural Metrics (Training Eligibility, Average Hours of Learning per Employee).
“This model and the notion of a financial impact of human capital on earnings is something the learning industry has needed for a long time,” commented Kent Barnett, CEO of KnowledgeAdvisors. “Accountability and optimized future resource allocations are the themes we see in our customers spending patterns today,” stated Barnett. “This model and toolset put the L&D manager in the driver’s seat when it comes to linking learning to business results.”
“Our customer base is deep. We have the world’s largest technology, consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical, insurance, professional services, manufacturing, government, telecommunications and financial services firms using Metrics that Matter™ today,” commented Jeffrey Berk, Vice President of Product and Strategy for KnowledgeAdvisors. “We have real customers who demand practical solutions that are thought leading yet affordable to buy and practical to use. These solutions along with our 200 million benchmark data points have proven themselves in the marketplace. We will continue to develop thought leadership on learning analytics and human capital measurement models.
KnowledgeAdvisors will forge ahead as the leader in building the scorecards and dashboards L&D leaders need to make decisions in a timely manner.”
