Learning Manager / Learning Analytics: Building the Business Case for Learning
Description:
Working with Dave Vance, the former CLO of the award winning Caterpillar University, students will learn how to align learning to business goals, how to use forecasting in learning measurement, and how to communicate results to key stakeholders. Students will also participate in the TOPSIM Learning Manager Simulation where participants assume the role of CLO and practice what they have learned in a safe environment.
This workshop will be held in combination with our popular KnowledgeAdvisors Learning Analytics Workshop that provides you the fundamentals to develop and apply measurement best practices to your learning programs.
Day One
Gain a solid foundation in measurement and learning analytics concepts. At the end of day one you will be able to:
- Articulate the business case for learning measurement and answer the question, “Why should metrics be a priority and what is most important to stakeholders?”
- Identify the current trends in learning measurement
- Describe learning analytics and measurement models
- Identify scalable and practical analytics
- Describe KnowledgeAdvisors valuation models and determine when and how to use each one
- Identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for learning
- Articulate the best practices for learning analytics
Day Two
Go beyond the foundation to become a better manager of the learning function to deliver greater value to your organization. Learn how to apply business and economic concepts to significantly increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the training function, thereby increasing the return of the company’s investment in learning. During day two you will focus on how to:
- Strategically align learning to corporate objectives
- Create a business plan for learning with specific, measurable objectives
- Use economic analysis (opportunity costs, net benefits, marginal benefits, and ROI) to choose among different learning options in order to maximize return
- Reduce opportunity costs through WBT and synchronous distance learning
- Create practical scorecards aligned to your goals that will help you manage monthly performance
- Make trade-offs and mid-course corrections
- Revise plans to optimize performance
